Happy May Day! On behalf of all Singaporeans, a big thank you to all workers for your hard work and contributions!
We want to improve workers’ lives, and are especially concerned with older workers, lower-wage workers and PMEs. We have programmes to help older workers continue working after turning 62, to top up wages through Workfare and the Wage Credit Scheme, and to make workplaces fair and inclusive.
We also need to grow the economic pie and share the benefits of growth widely. This means welcoming good investments that create better jobs. We must also continue to raise productivity of our companies and workers, and invest in our future, especially through education.
Tripartism will help us thrive in an uncertain world. It is our national treasure and a unique advantage which we must never lose. Employers, unions and Government must work together to strengthen tripartism and build a brighter future for all Singaporeans. – LHL
